Mitchell wins State Titles
The State Reserve Singles where played at Avoca Beach Bowling Club on the 2nd and 3rd of September. Players from 16 Zones in NSW played off for the honours of being State Reserve Champion.
Brad Mitchell aged 35 who plays for Pacific Palms Bowling Club represented the Manning District and took out the prestigious award from many a worthy opponent. Playing for only four years Mitchell has won many awards, on his way to the final he had to beat players from Walgett, Cabarita and in the semi finals he beat player from Dubbo Railway Bowling Club. Mitchell then had to play Andy Yeomans from Bar Beach Bowling Club, Mitchell started well and led 7 shots to 1 early but Yeomans hit back to draw at 14 shots all. The two went head to head over the next few ends with 21 shots to each. Yeomans then hit back with a good end skipping away with a 27-24 shot lead. Mitchell never gave up and went on to win the game 31 to 28, both bowlers played like the Champions they are.
In the Pairs the Gloucester pair of Kevin Burly and Phil Wilson made it to the last 16 in the State but fell to a team from Cooma in a low scoring game.
At Taree West on the weekend the Zone Rookies Pairs was won by Greg Stafford and Wayne O’Neil from Lansdowne Club 15/11
The Singles went to Pacific Palms player Daniel Daws who defeated David Crowe from Black Head 17/12 after some very good bowling.
To wrap up a very busy week we had the Champion of Club Champion Pairs which was won by Roy Adams and Dean Brien from Manning Point with Matt McIntyre and Dominic Riley from Taree Leagues Club.
Also picked to play in the under 25’s Challenge Game to be played a Red Head Bowling Club on 25th – 26th September. Matt McIntyre will play in the Singles and Dominic will skip the pair’s side.
In the Champion of Champion for the Zone Bill Brett from Lansdowne will play Nathan Allan from the Hunter. Dean Brien and Ray Adams play b Harrison and S Mitchell from the Hunter.
